What changed: We updated these terms to reflect our migration to a new community platform. The community and app are managed by Stichting School for Moral Ambition, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 92257461 (hereinafter "SMA", "we", or "us"). By accessing the community and the app, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these terms, you may not use the community and the app.

Scope & Platform
These Terms of Use apply to your use of the Moral Ambition community and mobile application (the "Community"). The Community is operated by SMA using a platform provided by CircleCo, Inc. ("Circle"). These are the only terms that govern your use of the Community — no separate platform terms apply to you.
These Terms of Use also apply to any email communications, newsletters, and notifications you receive from us in connection with the Community.
Data Migration Notice
We have migrated the Community from our previous platform (Hivebrite) to Circle.so. As part of this migration, your existing account information (including your name, email address, and profile data) has been transferred to the new platform. Your previous posts and content may not have been migrated. If you have questions about the migration or wish to exercise your data rights, please contact us at privacy@moralambition.org.
Access and User Account
To use the Community, you must create an account. You are responsible for managing your account and for keeping your login credentials confidential. Do not share your account with others.
You may not share or transfer your account to others without our permission. We reserve the right to limit or terminate your access to the Community if we suspect that you are violating these terms. We also reserve the right to delete your account if it remains inactive for a prolonged period.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Community. If you are between 16 and 18 years old, you may only use the Community with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 16 years of age.
Newsletter & Email Communications
When you create an account in the Community, we may send you an invitation to subscribe to our email newsletter. Subscribing to the newsletter is entirely voluntary and requires your explicit opt-in. We send periodic newsletters about our activities, community updates, and opportunities for impact.
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us at privacy@moralambition.org. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not affect your Community membership. You will continue to receive essential service communications (such as account notifications and security alerts) regardless of your newsletter preferences.
Allowed Use
We expect respectful and good-faith behavior from all users. This means that you respect the privacy and legitimate interests of other users and of SMA.
We reserve the right to block you for posting content or engaging in conduct that:
- Intends to scam, mislead, spam, or defraud users
- Features violence, disturbing material, or discriminatory language
- Qualifies as hate speech or harassment
- Violates the law, public order, or good morals
- Is abusive or disrespectful towards SMA's team members or community members
- Is frequently off-topic and disruptive
- Promotes, is funded by, or is connected to industries whose interests conflict with SMA's mission areas, including but not limited to the tobacco, vaping, fossil fuel, and harmful food industry sectors
- Engages in lobbying, astroturfing, or misrepresentation of affiliations or intentions within the Community
- Acts in bad faith, including joining the Community to undermine, discredit, surveil, or disrupt SMA's activities or members
You will receive one warning, after which we will block your account if your negative behavior continues. In serious cases (e.g., illegal content, harassment, or clear bad faith), we may block your account immediately without prior warning.
User Content
You are responsible for the content you post in the Community (such as messages, photos, videos, and comments). We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.
You retain ownership of the content you create and post. By posting content in the Community, you grant SMA a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and store your content within the Community for the purpose of operating and improving it. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content that has been shared with or relied upon by other community members.
Additionally, to the extent necessary for the technical operation of the platform, you grant CircleCo, Inc. (our platform provider) a license to host, store, cache, transmit, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing and maintaining the platform services on our behalf. Circle does not acquire any ownership of your content.
AI-Powered Features
The Community may use AI-powered features to enhance your experience (such as content suggestions, search, or automated moderation). These features are operated by third-party sub-processors selected by our platform provider, Circle. Your personal data is not used to train, fine-tune, or improve any external AI models. Platform Availability & Technical Limitations
We aim to keep the Community available and functioning smoothly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The Community may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of planned maintenance in advance.
The Community is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that the Community will be error-free, secure, or available at all times. We are not responsible for any loss of data or content caused by platform outages, bugs, or other technical failures, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
Intellectual Property
The content and functionality of the Community, including but not limited to texts, images, logos, software, and other materials, are the property of SMA or its licensors (including CircleCo, Inc. as platform provider) and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The platform software, design, and underlying technology are the property of CircleCo, Inc. You may not reproduce, distribute, reverse-engineer, or otherwise use any part of the Community or its underlying technology without our or our licensors' permission.
Third Parties
The Community may contain links to third-party websites or integrations with external services. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these third parties. By accessing these websites or services, you do so at your own risk.
Privacy and Data Processing
We respect your privacy and handle your data carefully. For details on how we collect, use, and protect your personal data, please see our Privacy Statement.
SMA is the data controller for your personal data. Circle acts as a data processor on our behalf under a Data Processing Addendum that includes EU Standard Contractual Clauses. A list of our processors and sub-processors is available on request.
Suspension and Termination of Account
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Use. You have the right to delete your account at any time by contacting us at privacy@moralambition.org.
Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Statement. Content you posted that has been shared with or relied upon by other community members may remain visible, but will be anonymized where possible.
Liability
We are not liable for any damage arising from the use of the Community, including damage caused by data loss, device damage, the use of third-party services, or platform outages, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for damage caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under Dutch law.
Changes to the Terms of Use
We may change these Terms of Use at any time. We will inform you of material changes via email or a notification in the Community at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Community after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may close your account before they take effect.
Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms of Use will be submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Contracting Entity
These Terms of Use are entered into with Stichting School for Moral Ambition, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 92257461, with its registered office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
If you are based in the United States, certain services may be provided by or in coordination with The School for Moral Ambition Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation registered in New York (EIN 33-2502997). Regardless of which entity provides services, your rights under these terms remain unchanged.
